One of the best ways to minister to the high school guys in my weekly Bible study is to feed them! There is a bonding that takes place over hot food, laughter, and just hanging out.

I bring them dinner every week. Sometimes I think that is the only reason they show up. They often text me during the day and ask me what I’m cooking.

The downside is that it can get expensive, so I am always looking for cheap and tasty ways to fill my 19 teenagers up. My goal is to feed them for under a buck a kid.

Here are some of my favorite options:

  1. Costco Pizza. You probably already know this, but you can get a giant pizza for $10. And they are delicious! I get 2 and there are usually a couple slices left over.
  2. Stouffer’s Party size lasagna from Walmart. It feeds 12 for $13.97. I just pop it in the oven for an hour and BOOM! My co-leader thinks I make it from scratch.

3) Taco Bell 12 pack for $13.99. This is a super fast option because you just hit the drive through and you are done.

4) Homemade baked spaghetti. My guys love it, it is super easy to make, and it is cheap!

Here is my best baked spaghetti recipe:

INGREDIENTS:

16 ounces thin spaghetti

2 lb ground beef

2 teaspoon minced garlic

2 (26 ounce) can spaghetti sauce

4 cups finely shredded mild cheddar cheese

2 tablespoon oregano

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350.

Cook noodles in boiling water; drain.

Meanwhile, brown ground beef and garlic over medium heat; drain.

Combine browned ground beef, spaghetti sauce, and oregano.

Spray a casserole dish with cooking spray.

Place 1/3 of noodles in bottom of dish.

Top with 1/3 of spaghetti sauce mixture, and 1/3 of cheese.

Repeat twice, ending with cheddar cheese.

Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes.
