Life can throw curveballs at times and when it does, we need to be ready, be on guard. Ephesians 6:11 says we should “put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.” We should do as Ephesians 6:14-17 says and “stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,” so when the enemy does come to steal, kill and destroy; we will be prepared, armed for battle and his wicked schemes will be empty in power.

We should not become so attached to the things of this world that when we lose a certain thing or it breaks, we believe we have just lost a piece of our life. In John 18:36 Jesus says, “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world.” God has plans for us outside of this world, plans that do not involve bicycles, boats and jets. His plan is far greater, it is relational.

Next time life comes crashing down on you, you will be ready for the curveballs. You will have put on God’s full armor and you will be aware that you are not of this world, God has an ultimate plan of grace & redemption and you can rest, knowing He has already won the victory. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
