Start with Story

Tonight we had our summer camp leaders meeting – it was so much fun preparing leaders for what was coming next week at camp. It is always one of the biggest highlights of the whole year, and we’ve been sold out for several weeks so everyone is really pumped. So the agenda said we would jump right into leader expectations and camp rules … but changed it up in a moment of inspiration.

We started with story. I just opened it up right out of the gate with an open microphone. And my leaders didn’t disappoint – they taught the heart and vision for our camp without me saying even a word. It was the perfect start to the night. So the lesson for me was that yes, we needed to get to expectations and rules, but start with story and the rest will fall into place!
