Saddleback HSM Weekend in Review: Volume 228

Weekend Teaching Series: For the Win (week 2 of 3)
Sermon in a Sentence: Humility isn’t thinking less of ourselves, it is thinking of ourselves less.
Service Length: 74 minutes

Understandable Message: This week our student ministries pastor Kurt Johnston gave the talk for week 2 of the series on the subject of humility. He did a great job using some great illustrations from his life and teaching the example of Jesus to walk students through this topic of character. So thankful for him jumping in for me this weekend, just back from the D6 Conference. I need to have him teach our students more, so good!

Element of Fun/Positive Environment: This week we played a GREAT new game called Pictionary Showdown, using the iDraw app. We called up some students on stage and had them play the game in front of everyone – we also divided up the room so half would win a candy shower if their contestant won. Simple twist on the classic game. We also had a fun video featuring one of our older volunteers, Tom Drake, boldly teaching some next level skateboard tricks. It was so funny!

Music Playlist: The Earth is Yours, How He Loves, All I Am, Closer

Favorite Moment: We had a simple activity after the service on Saturday night in conjunction with our local Chic-Fil-A! As soon as the service ended, we told students that their bulletin would get them a free Ice Dream cone if they wanted to come hang out for a while. The place was packed for hours! Such an easy relational win after the service was over.

Up next: For the Win (series finale, week 3 of 3)
