Weekend Teaching Series: Senior Weekend (1-off)
Sermon in a Sentence: Seniors celebrate their time in HSM and challenge the underclassmen
Service Length: 74 minutes
Understandable Message: This weekend we had an incredible student-led service – our seniors took over the weekend (they’ve had a TON of experience from our annual You Own the Weekend series). They have worked really hard over the past few months getting ready for the weekend and it was awesome. They had a senior panel where 5 students each shared what they wish they had done differently in high school, and it was incredibly powerful and encouraging students to get involved as underclassmen. They also had two students come up to share the message (with VERY different styles, both worked well!) and shared fheir insights from the Bible as they left HSM. Such a great weekend!
Element of Fun/Positive Environment: They had some great videos and fun – everything was so well done and fun. Lots of greeters, lots of seniors modeling what it means to finish strong. The highlight of the programming was the flash mob from High School Musical where everyone sang “We’re All In This Together” – absolutely made the weekend and such a fun way to start the service. Loved it!
Music Playlist: Like an Avalanche, All I Am, 10,000 Reasons
Favorite Moment: Praying with and for our graduating seniors was so special … and heartbreaking. One of the biggest challenges of student ministry is the goodbye. Awesome, awesome moment with an incredible class. Wow.
