Just had a cool-looking student come to the door shilling subscriptions to the Orange County Register. He was a super nice kid trying to raise money for his books. As I told him I wasn’t interested in the service, twice he used “rugged” as an expression of sadness that I wasn’t interested. Proper sentence usage: Oh dude, are you sure? That’s rugged.

So now you can add that word to your vocabulary (next to “tight” or if you’re old school “narly” – though I heard that may be making a comeback, too) and look cool in front of your students. Or dorky in front of other youth workers. Actually, dorky in front of your students, too.

You’re 34. THAT’s rugged.
