Prayer. What on earth do we pray for? What do we lay before the Almighty God in prayer? I know there are times in which I have no idea what to pray for. I am stuck. What could I possibly say to an all-powerful God?

Answer:

First, our personal troubles. In Psalm 32, David cries out, “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance” (v. 7). It also says in Psalm 142, “I cry aloud to the Lord…I pour out my complaint before Him, before I tell my trouble.”

When we do pray we need to keep in mind all of our own shortcomings and excesses we feel, and then just pour them out to a loving God, lay them at His feet, express everything with not holding back to a loving and faithful God who is ready to help.

If we are in a place where we think we do not need prayer, where we think everything is fine or that we do not have any needs, then we find ourselves in the worst possible position.

The greatest trouble that we can ever know is thinking that we have no trouble.

When we get to this place, we have become hard-hearted and we cannot sense what is inside of us. This is exactly how Satan gets you not to pray, and that is to make you think that you have nothing to pray for.
