This weekend the Fields’ family celebrated our first college commencement–Torie (our oldest) graduated from Biola University. I Twittered something about the graduation on Saturday and the first senior pastor I ever worked for (Tim Timmons Sr) Twittered back, “Congrats to Torie! I remember when Torie first dissed me at her baby dedication in front of thousands. Love her so much!” That was 22 years ago! I remember it well too. Tim was holding her and she just would ever look him in the eyes no matter what he did. It was a great moment!

When children are little, it’s common for “older folks” to say, “It goes by so fast!” (obviously referring to kids growing up). When new parents aren’t even sleeping thru the night it doesn’t seem like it’s going to go by fast. But…unfortunately…it does. It goes by too fast.

For those of you who have young children…celebrate them every day. Hold them often. Laugh a lot! Play more than you watch TV… and don’t blink…because in a short period of time your little baby will be graduating college. Life goes by fast! Very fast. Do whatever you need to do to focus on your own family. There’s no one in the world who is supposed to care for your kids more than you.
