Weekend Teaching Series: Becoming (1-off)
Sermon in a Sentence: We bring in our new college pastor to talk about how to prepare for life after high school.
Service Length: 61 minutes

Understandable Message: This week we asked the new college pastor, Mike Brook, to come and speak to our teenagers about identity and the path towards spiritual and physical maturity. He did a great job talking about fun stories from his high school years and helped students be encouraged to take a stand for what is right. His primary Scripture was from 1 Samuel and talked through the story of David and Goliath.

Element of Fun/Positive Environment: The weekend was a great “in-between” week when we’ve said goodbye to seniors but the following weekend the freshman are coming in. One of these years I’ll get the teaching calendar right! We had a fun time with students and lots of students were involved doing greeting, lights, camera, sound, etc. After the service we brought over our junior highers from Wildside for a quick 15-minute preview of HSM and a fun pizza party to get them pumped up for the following week. It was great!

Music Playlist: We Shine, Closer, Here For You, Christ in Me

Favorite Moment: Mike used an inappropriate word during the 1st service of the weekend. About died laughing in my seat due to shock and awe. It was changed for the following services and will be forever immortalized on the “Unforgettable Moments in HSM History” plaque in the office!
