We all have a ball of momentum in our ministry.

Some of us have a ball that is rolling backwards, some forwards, and some not at all. The hardest thing to do with that ball is to get it rolling forward to create momentum. In our children’s church, we are learning that a random, light roll of the ball forward does not keep the momentum going. You need a plan to get it moving to keep it moving.

A good place to start is by letting go of any sin in your life. If you are human and you are not perfect, chances are God is telling you to let go of something. The quicker you let go of it, the sooner momentum will build.

Once you let go, you can focus more on applying God’s word in your life. As you apply His word, a vision will be cast into your heart for what God has called you to do. “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” (Proverbs 29:18)

Where you see momentum, you see a leader who is open and teachable. These leaders know that they are not in this alone, there are others that have gone before them and they seek them for guidance. These leaders are also open to using fresh new ideas to keep the ball up to speed.

Lastly, you have to persevere. “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” In due season, youwill reap! Fight the good fight and know that God will reward your hard work.

When you do all these things, it may take a little while to get it rolling but once it gets started, it’s downhill from there. Just be sure to revisit your plan every once in a while so you don’t find your ball rolling backwards.
