I get dozens of questions from ministry leaders every week and I either try to answer them personally or via our podcast. But, occasionally, I’d like to post a question and have the youth ministry community chime in and help. I’ve taken the names out in this, but the person knows I’m posting his question.

“In 2003, my wife and I learned our youngest son is autistic. We decided not to move closer to family because of above average special-education professionals in our local schools. Of course, schools are one of many facets parents of autistic children navigate. Our youngest is soon to be participating in our church’s youth group. I’d love to hear how youth workers accommodate for autistic and special needs kids in youth ministry.”

Please share what you’re doing…what you’ve learned about caring for kids with special needs within your youth ministry…and any other ideas to help out this person and the rest of us as well.
